Distribution

In Australia this taxon occurs from northern New South Wales to Tasmania, from sea level to 1000 metres altitude. It has been found also on Auckland Island, in South Africa and in South America. ([1]).

The species may not occur in all mangrove areas within its distribution. The following list gives Australian locations where this lichen has been reported definitely from mangrove habitats or on mangrove substrates -

NEW SOUTH WALES: Batemans Bay ([1])

Australian substrates

This taxon has been found on many plant species but Avicennia marina is the only reported mangrove substrate. ([1]).
